A Day in the Life of Casey Hale, P.B. Bell’s Maintenance Director

A Day in the Life of Casey Hale

Casey Hale, a widely known and beloved member of the P.B. Bell team, serves as the company’s maintenance director. In 2004, Casey started his career in multifamily real estate (at P.B. Bell) and naturally progressed up the ladder because of his seasoned skills and dedication to working with integrity.

Casey has held a multitude of roles, such as maintenance tech, on-site maintenance supervisor and assistant construction manager, which led to his promotion to maintenance director in 2018. Below is a peek into Casey Hale’s role and day-to-day at P.B. Bell.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Every day looks different. In addition to planned projects, things pop up left and right.

My phone usually starts ringing at 6 a.m. with messages and calls regarding incidents that happened overnight or over the weekend. This is also a time when our special projects start to roll in, so it’s key for me to prioritize my day straight away.

After I’ve been brought up to speed on those immediate action items and have delegated team members to handle them, I start attending meetings and traveling to sites that need my attention.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy supporting my teammates. I enjoy making a difference and helping someone solve a problem they feel stuck with.

Since we are all spread across the Valley, I make sure the maintenance team doesn’t feel alone on the properties that they are working on. By tending to my team, I not only give them the support they need, but it has a ripple effect on everyone who lives and works at the various P.B. Bell properties.

My goal is for people to enjoy their work, so they return home in the same condition they showed up in. Supporting people is the most important aspect of my job.

What is your favorite part of working at P.B. Bell?

The corporate team creates a tight-knit atmosphere that feels like a family away from your family. They ensure that all employees feel respected and cared for, and that is why I’ve remained loyal to this company.

Additionally, my integrity is valuable to me, and P.B. Bell is a company that is led with integrity. In the 20+ years I’ve been with P.B. Bell, I’ve never been asked to do something that tests my integrity. They always support me in doing the right thing.

One example of this is that I am never forced to cut corners. I take pride in my work; I take the time and consideration to make sure every task is done properly. I’ve always felt supported on projects I’ve worked on, and I appreciate that they let me be thorough.

What evolution have you seen in the industry and within P.B. Bell during your tenure?

The market always fluctuates, but P.B. Bell’s attention to detail and careful consideration of every element of the business have never wavered.

Whether it be a slower period or a high boom (like we saw during and directly after the pandemic), P.B. Bell always takes a detailed look at things. This especially rings true today as competition is high. I work with our team to make sure everything is running efficiently, to continue to foster the high standards of P.B. Bell and help us remain the best property manager in Arizona.

Our strength comes from leadership; our top executives are dedicated, seasoned and do not have egos. They’ve built lasting relationships that contribute to the company’s longevity and success. Because we are a locally owned and operated company, we can easily tailor our services to each client, which maximizes our success.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Most of what I enjoy centers around my family! I have a blast spending time hanging out with my kids (my wife and I have four teenagers in the house).

In my spare time, I also enjoy working on a few old cars that I have!

What is your life motto and words to live by?

“Hard work makes life easier.”

If you put in a half effort into what you are doing, you’ll end up doing it twice. It’s smart to be efficient and do things right the first time around.

In my role at P.B. Bell, I tell my team that it’s important to have an attention to detail and a high level of care because they are going into people’s homes. That’s where they raise their kids. That’s where they lay their heads down at night. So, it’s crucial to put in the work to make sure everything is done right.
