A Day in the Life of Cheri Stroud, Housekeeper at Everly at Morrison Ranch

A Day in the Life of Cheri Stroud

Cheri Stroud has been with P.B. Bell for 29 years and works at Everly at Morrison Ranch where she leads housekeeping on the property. Before she landed at Everly, she roved around various properties to bring her experience and expertise. Everly at Morisson Ranch is the fourth new build she has worked on throughout her career at P.B. Bell. In 2021, she was recognized by the Arizona Multihousing Association as “Housekeeper of the Year”.

Cheri excels in her position and is one of P.B. Bell’s shining stars. Find out more about her below!

What does a typical day look like for you?

In my role, I make sure the interior of the apartment community, including common areas and vacant apartments, are move-in-ready for new residents. Additionally, I help with the general upkeep of the community to ensure it has a great appearance and maintains safety at all times.

I start each day by opening the office, clubhouse, models, fitness center and other public spaces to ensure they are ready for future residents and guests.

Since Everly at Morrison Ranch is a new property, I comb through all available units and ensure they are clean, and I keep an eye on any potential fixes that the maintenance team should be aware of. The more eyes on a single unit, the better! I put myself in the shoes of future residents, so I want to ensure their homes are ready for their arrival.

Since starting at Everly in March, I have cleaned 100 units, and have roughly 100 more to prepare.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I am an early bird who enjoys cleaning, so this role is a perfect fit for me! I like that I am one of the first people on the property, so I can get stuff done early.

Also, I am detail-oriented and have become more detailed over the years. I now maintain a certain caliber of cleanliness, which makes my job easier to keep up with when I return to certain spaces.

I like being part of the P.B. Bell culture. You are not just a number to them; they know who you are! For example, I’ve been to various company functions where strangers will come up to me and know exactly who I am because of my tenure and dedication to the company. It is wonderful to feel like a valued member of the team.

What is your favorite memory from working at P.B. Bell?

One specific memory that comes to mind is when a manager I didn’t know at the time came up to me at a holiday party and gave me raffle tickets, which had originally come from our now CEO Justin, who wanted to gift them to a P.B. Bell housekeeper. This is one example of generosity I’ve encountered during my time with P.B. Bell.

Also, in general, I’ve made many great friends through my long standing career at P.B. Bell! Some people come and go, but I’ve remained friends with previous P.B. Bell employees, like my first manager, who retired years ago.

What have you noticed has changed in and out of P.B. Bell during your time with the company?

P.B. Bell has changed a bit over the years, but it has always been for the better. It still maintains a strong, tight-knit culture that feels like family.

The main difference is that P.B. Bell has grown so much. Originally, everything was done on a smaller scale. P.B. Bell has grown its number of properties, and I look forward to seeing where the future takes us.

Despite this growth, they still put employees and culture first. They still know all of their employees, and make it a point that we feel like part of a team.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I love spending time with my grandchildren! They are involved in so many activities, from softball to baseball to gymnastics, and it’s so fun to support and cheer them on!
I also enjoy binge-watching a good series! One I’ve recently been hooked on is Handmaid’s Tale!

What is your life motto and words to live by?

My life motto is simple: To be kind. I try to spread kindness and positivity in everything that I do. Kindness and positivity are infectious, so I hope to make a ripple effect in the world!
