P.B. Bell Works With City To Help Surprise Tenants Chill Out

SCOTTSDALE (Aug. 31, 2016) – P.B. Bell, a leader in multifamily housing development, management and acquisitions, has spent its 40th year giving back to its residents and the community. Throughout the year, P.B. Bell employees have committed a number of hours to organizing and participating in a variety of philanthropic events, but one gesture in particular is easing a particularly costly seasonal burden.

Thanks to the cooperative effort between P.B. Bell and the City of Surprise, more than a dozen residents at a Surprise community didn’t need to sweat their utility bills this summer, when air conditioning costs generally skyrocket. Realizing a need, management personnel at Bell Mirage Estates worked with the Human Service and Community Vitality team at the City of Surprise to secure more than $6,000 in assistance to benefit 13 P.B. Bell residents.

“Over the course of this year, our employees have shown that they truly have hearts of gold, and this outreach effort is a shining example of that,” R. Chapin Bell, P.B. Bell CEO, said. “It’s really inspiring to know that our communities are focused on the best interests of our residents. We couldn’t be more proud of the way we decided to celebrate our 40th anniversary, knowing it is helping so many others.”

The coordination of utility bill assistance is just one of 40 acts of kindness that P.B. Bell is dedicated to fulfilling throughout the year. Employees and residents have participated in donation drives for water, school supplies, canned goods and care packages for military members. They spent a day stuffing and dressing teddy bears at Build-A-Bear Workshop before delivering them to patients at Cardon Children’s Hospital. Several staffers cooked and served dinner for families at the Mayo Clinic Hope Lodge, while P.B. Bell extended corporate sponsorships to a charity golf tournament in Chandler and a youth football team in Maricopa.

“These projects really represent our spirit as a company,” Bell said. “We felt it was important for us to celebrate our longevity by giving back to a community that has given us so much over the years.”

P.B. Bell’s year of philanthropy will culminate with a resident receiving one month’s rent for free, likely around the holidays.
